One of Southern Indiana Scuba’s long-standing beliefs is that effective education is critical for safe diving practices. We are proud to offer classes through Scuba Schools International, or commonly abbreviated as SSI.
Courses beyond your open water training are offered on a continual basis – we encourage all students who would like to improve their diving skills to enroll in a continuing education program.
If you want to take a course that is not listed here, let us know! We have lots of friends to help you achieve your dreams. We can refer you to a reputable facility that offers that class, or we will get one of our professionals trained to accommodate you.

Try scuba diving and begin the adventure of a lifetime!
The SSI Try Scuba program is the best way to try scuba diving for the first time. You will be in confined water and well looked after by your instructor, so you can enjoy those first unforgettable breaths underwater and experience the magic of scuba diving. At the end of this short course, you will have earned your SSI Try Scuba recognition card and undoubtedly want to go diving again. Endless scuba diving adventures are waiting for you and this course is where it all begins.

Price: $495.00 (lecture & pool), + $199.00 (checkout dives)
To get certified as an Open Water Diver, there are three easy steps! You must own your own scuba quality mask, fins, snorkel and boots. First, you must complete your online academics, a medical review form, lecture, and an exam, followed by about six hours of confined water training (in a pool). Then, you can complete your open water check-out dives with us at our private local quarry, come with us on a trip, or take a Referral to another SSI Dive Center to finish your dives on your own vacation. After you have completed the three phases, you become a certified Open Water Diver. We will guide you through the process to help you pick the best route for you. You must own your own scuba quality mask, fins, snorkel and boots. We offer a 12% discount to our students. WE REQUIRE ALL CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN TAKE A TRY SCUBA FIRST. Price: Ranges from $90.00 to $215.00, depending on which specialty you pick.
Bundle pricing discounts available, this saves money and keeps you diving.
After you are certified, you can take a number of courses that teach you the finer points of diving. We teach you how to use specialized equipment, advanced techniques, stress management, marine life identification, and much more.
Recognition Ratings (Advanced, Master Diver, etc.)
Price: Bundles available. Recognition Ratings themselves are free, but the specialties are what cost money.
Through your SSI training, as you take specialties and go diving you will earn ranks and recognition ratings! Along the way, you will earn your Specialty Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Master Diver ratings. You are recognized by the number of dives you go on. Price: $650.00+, depending on which professional course(s) and track you take.
We get it – you’re hooked! Maybe it’s your dream to live in the Caribbean and teach scuba. Talk to us about our Professional track. We will help you decide if it is right for you, and teach you how to embark on your journey. Divemaster courses are done at our mutual leisure. We can certify up to Assistant Instructors in house.
Price: $135.00 (for Mermaid Explorer) or $250.00 (for Full/Adult Mermaid)
Want a unique treat? We also offer official SSI Mermaid classes! This is perfect for parties, social gatherings, a unique work-out day, and so much more. We offer Mermaid Explorer for the young ones, and full Mermaid for those 15 years and older. Anyone can be a mermaid and enjoy complimentary use of a rental monofin and lycra tail, or buy one to suit your personal style!
