Youth
Divers (ages 10 and 11)
Divers can be certified as young
as 10 years old. There are special rules and restrictions
for divers of that age. A "Youth Diving: Responsibility
and Risks Acknowledgment" release must be signed by a parent
or guardian as well as the youth in addition to watching a short
video prior to any class. The youth diver is required to
know and understand all the material that other divers are
required to understand. Because of this, we recommend that
any 10 or 11 year old considering becoming a diver, should take a
"Bubblemaker" course first and maybe a "Seal
Team" also. These prepare the young diver for the Open
Water Class. Restrictions on the number of students in a
class with a 10 or 11 year old is 4 total divers. Due to
this restriction the cost for a youth diver class is $340.00
instead of $265.00.
